I'm fairly new to the droning world. I was initially exposed to drones from a previous relationship I was in. During that time, I was quite frightened to fly his drone. I actually wanted nothing to do with it. I knew if I needed an aerial shot, I could just ask him. It wasn't until recently that I was inspired to buy and learn to fly a drone for my trip to Asia, but more specifically my hike on the Great Wall of China. That's right- my need to document my trip in a different way was so important to me that I bought a drone. What I did not know was that I would fall in love if not become obsessed with flying my Mavic Pro. I've been flying for a little over three weeks now and I am hooked. After flying over the Great Wall of China, I realized that having the ability to capture such stunning footage and images from above, for me, has pushed the limits of video creativity to a whole new level. I now view and think about video differently and how I want to tell a story. In addition to my new found hobby, I have realized that not many women are flying drones and not to my surprise, it is a male dominated activity. I recently joined womenanddrones.com, a community of female drone pilots, which I think is pretty amazing. Although they are fairly new and just getting started, it's extremely empowering to know that there is an up and coming community of female drone pilots for women like me. I have included my most recent video of my hike on the Great Wall of China that includes the footage I captured with my drone. Hope you enjoy it and don't forget to subscribe!
